Abstract

Résumé La publication en 1980 du tome V de I a série IV A des Opera Omnia d’Euler consacré à la Correspondance de Leonhard Euler avec A. C. Clairaut, J. D’Alembert et J.L. Lagrange 1 a révélé d’importants documents inédits et apporté de précieuses informations nouvelles sur la vie scientifique et l’histoire des sciences physico-mathématiques dans la période moyenne du XVIIIe siècle. Elle permet en particulier de suivre d’une façon plus exacte l’évolution des relations scientifiques qui se sont nouées en 1746 entre Eu1er et d’Alembert et, après divers épisodes, se sont ralenties et progressivement éteintes à partir de 1766. Tel est l’objet de cette communication, fondée à la fois sur l’introduction, les textes et les annotations de ce tome des Opera Omnia d’Euler et sur divers autres documents concernant la vie, la carrière et l’oeuvre de ces deux savants.
