Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Darstellung der Klassenzahl positiver binärer quadratischer Formen, die ich in einer früheren Arbeit2) entwickelt habe, lässt sich, wie ich im folgenden zeigen möchte, auf den Fall der ternären Formen ausdehnen. Die analytischen Hilfsmittel, deren es hierzu bedarf, werde ich dabei in etwas allgemeinerer Form darstellen, als es für den vorliegenden Zweck nötig wäre, da sie mir an sich von Interesse zu sein scheinen und in dieser allgemeineren Form auch für die Darstellung der Klassenzahl positiver quadratischer Formen von beliebig vielen Variabein ausreichen dürften. Die arithmetischen Hilfsmittel liegen im Falle der ternären Formen in der Reduktionstheorie von Selling3) vor, im Falle der Formen von beliebig vielen Variablen in den schönen Untersuchungen von Voronoï4).
