Über höhere Kongruenzen

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Frage nach der Anzahl der Wurzeln einer Kongruenz a 1 x p − 2 + a 2 x p − 3 + ... + a p − 1 ≡ 0 ( mod . p ) $${a_1}{x^{p - 2}} + {a_2}{x^{p - 3}} + ... + {a_{p - 1}} \equiv 0(\bmod .p)$$ wobei der Modul p eine Primzahl ist, lässt sich nach einem Satze von Herrn König1) mit Hilfe der aus den Koeffizienten a 1, a 2,... a p-1 gebildeten zyklischen Matrix vollständig beantworten. Ist nämlich p - 1 - h der Rang dieser Matrix modulo p, so ist h die gesuchte Anzahl. Eine ganz anders geartete Antwort auf dieselbe Frage will ich in den folgenden Zeilen entwickeln und daran einige weitere auf höhere Kongruenzen bezügliche Betrachtungen anknüpfen.
