Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das Interesse am Unternehmenszweck hat in den letzten Jahren zugenommen, da authentische, pro-soziale und profitable Lösungen für aktuelle Herausforderungen benötigt werden. Veränderte Erwartungen von Mitarbeitenden und Kunden, verbunden mit neuen Regulierungen und disruptiven Umweltveränderungen, haben Unternehmen dazu veranlasst, ihren wahren Daseinszweck zu definieren und sich am Purpose auszurichten. Die Umsetzung des Purpose erfordert dessen Integration in die Unternehmensstrategie und das Geschäftsmodell. Die Forschung zu Unternehmenszweck und Geschäftsmodellen hat sich bislang vor allem auf hybride Organisationen wie kommerzielle Non-Profit-Unternehmen konzentriert, um zu analysieren, wie diese die Balance zwischen sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Zielen halten. Unsere Forschung erweitert die Analyse dieses Zielkonflikts auf gewinnorientierte Unternehmen, indem wir anhand von acht Purpose-getriebenen Unternehmen untersuchen, welche strategischen Prinzipien und Entscheidungen es ermöglicht haben, Purpose in ihre Geschäftsmodelle zu integrieren. Auch wenn diese Ansätze noch keine Best Practices darstellen, zeigen die Ergebnisse gemeinsame Muster auf, die es erlauben, die Vorteile des Purpose zu nutzen und gleichzeitig die Fallstricke eines unauthentischen Signalisierens zu vermeiden. Diese Muster entsprechen dem Drei-Säulen-Modell von Sustainable Purpose, Travelling Organization und Connectivity (siehe https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-23227-6_3 ).
