Abstract

Agentic AI (AAI) promises to revolutionize how organizations acquire things, but many problems still need to be solved through more research and collaboration between different sectors. This chapter systematically explores these critical open questions. These include calls for algorithmic fairness and transparency, the persistent problem of algorithmic bias in partner selection and evaluation, and the urgent need for cross-sector standards for AAI-based procurement systems. The chapter sets out a comprehensive research agenda by looking at gaps in current research, implementation issues, and changing regulatory requirements. It focuses on the technological, organizational, and social elements of the application of AAI in procurement. The study highlights the inherent tensions between system autonomy and human oversight, increased efficiency and ethical compliance, competitive advantage, and industry standards. This chapter creates a collaborative study framework that examines the progress of AAI in procurement in a broader societal context and emphasizes the practical imperatives for implementation. It uses ideas from law, computer science, economics, ethics, and human behavior in organizations. Academics, business people, regulators, and civil society groups must work together to ensure AAIs benefit organizations and society.
