Abstract

La struttura in calcestruzzo armato di una Binishell appena eretta è priva di aperture ed è quindi inaccessibile per via del principio costruttivo adottato, basato sulla pressurizzazione di una membrana ermetica. Il problema è quindi: come si entra? Il guscio deve essere parzialmente demolito per poter essere abitato. Questo capitolo si concentra sugli aspetti compositivi delle aperture nelle strutture Binishell, che vengono suddivise in due categorie: quelle realizzate alla base della struttura, come le aperture delle cupole della Moschea di Santa Sofia, e quelle progettate all’apice della cupola, come l’oculo del Pantheon a Roma. La parte conclusiva del capitolo esplora invece i più recenti sistemi costruttivi, come la Minishell e il System A sviluppato da Nicolò Bini, nei quali le aperture vengono generate automaticamente durante il processo costruttivo.
