Abstract
The concepts of gender, inclusive leadership, and employee voice intersect in powerful ways that shape workplace dynamics. Gender remains a critical yet underexplored factor in how individuals are perceived, treated, and heard. Despite progress in diversifying leadership, women, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, still face systemic barriers that limit their participation and advancement. This Chapter explores the intersection of gender, inclusive leadership, and employee voice highlighting how these dynamics shape workplace equity, participation and organisational effectiveness. Despite progress in representation, women, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds continue to encounter systemic barriers such as the "glass ceiling", implicit bias, and silencing practices that limit influence and advancement. Drawing on research and practice, the chapter examines how inclusive leadership can counteract these inequities by fostering psychological safety, disrupting bias, and embedding fairness in everyday interactions. Employee voice, defined as the ability to speak up without fear, emerges as a critical yet often overlooked element of inclusion, with women disproportionately at risk of being ignored, interrupted, or penalised for assertiveness. The chapter introduces the concept of social silencing and its role in marginalising women's contributions, then outlines the behaviours and structures that perpetuate exclusion. Strategies for change include encouraging women's participation, creating safe space for dialogue, and measuring inclusion through accountability mechanisms. Case studies demonstrate how organisations that embed inclusive leadership achieve stronger collaboration, innovation, and trust. The conclusion positions inclusive leadership as a strategic necessity for resilient, equitable, and future-ready organisations where every voice counts.
