Abstract

The analysis of the Romanian strategies on sustainable development from the perspective of SDG8 highlighted the three pillars of sustainable development and the areas of interdependence of the three pillars for sustainable development (Ciucu-Durnoi et al., 2023; Milea (Pârvu) et al., 2025). The implementation of the strategic legal framework for sustainable development entailed a historical overview of the main moments of sustainable development in Romania starting with the adoption of the National Environmental Action Plan in 1995 until the adoption of the Romanian Sustainable Development Strategy with Horizon 2030 in November 2018 (Goverment of Romania\United Nations Development Program, 2008). Thus, the strategic directions and objectives for sustainable development in Romania were assessed, which imply the strengthening and expansion of the governance framework, education and training programmes for sustainable development, and the implementation of the National Sustainable Development Strategy for Horizon 2030.
