Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Kommerzialisierung von Technologien ist heute eine der zentralen Säulen der Erfahrungen im akademischen Umfeld. Universitäten und Hochschulen widmen sich zunehmend nicht nur der Entwicklung neuer Technologien, sondern auch deren Vermarktung. Dieses Kapitel beschreibt einige der Erfahrungen und empirischen Erkenntnisse, die wir beim Aufbau des Runway Startup Postdoc Programms am Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute bei Cornell Tech in New York City gesammelt haben. Es erläutert drei übergeordnete Schritte experimenteller Technologietransfers und stellt das traditionelle Modell des Technology and Transfer Office (TTO) auf den Kopf. Experimentieren sollte ein natürlicher Bestandteil von Inkubatorprogrammen sein und ist der wirkungsvollste Weg, um nachhaltige Veränderungen in Technologietransfersystemen zu bewirken. Unsere Empfehlung an akademische Inkubatoren und TTOs ist, Experimente zuzulassen und eine Technologietransferkultur zu etablieren, die weniger auf traditionelle Output-Metriken (wie Patente, Lizenzen, Einnahmen) fokussiert ist und stattdessen darauf abzielt, Menschen die Ressourcen, Netzwerke und das Wissen bereitzustellen, das sie benötigen, um ein Start-up zu gründen.
