Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unternehmen gehen Partnerschaften mit Start-ups ein, um ihre Innovationsaktivitäten zu stärken und neue, potenziell disruptive Lösungen in ihren Markt zu bringen, vorausgesetzt, diese sind durch ein starkes IP-Portfolio abgesichert. Daher ist es für das Start-up wichtig, grundlegende Prinzipien des IP-Managements anzuwenden, um erfolgreiche Partnerschaften zu ermöglichen. Insbesondere sollte sichergestellt sein, dass das Start-up sämtliche IP-Rechte im Zusammenhang mit seinem Angebot besitzt, das geistige Eigentum eine starke Exklusivität bietet, um Wettbewerber auf Distanz zu halten, und keine Rechte Dritter verletzt, da dies eine zentrale Voraussetzung für die Attraktivität gegenüber etablierten Unternehmen ist. Dieses Kapitel beleuchtet Aspekte mit besonderem Fokus auf die kulturellen Unterschiede im Geschäftsleben zwischen einem Start-up und einem japanischen Unternehmen, die häufig Partnerschaften mit ausländischen Start-ups eingehen, um die geringe Anzahl an Start-ups im japanischen Ökosystem auszugleichen.
