Abstract

Academic interest in financial social media (FSM hereafter) can be traced back to the first published study in this field in 1998. However, research in this field remains relatively new. To date, more than 180 academic journal articles have been published that directly examine FSM. Scholars from a range of disciplines including accounting, artificial intelligence, computer science, management information systems, finance, and applied statistics have contributed to this growing body of literature. This chapter focuses exclusively on research articles written in English. Papers written in other languages are excluded, although their existence is acknowledged.
