Abstract

Dr Werner Nienhüser is now formally retired and nearing the end of his academic career, but he is still actively engaged in the scientific community by serving as a research fellow at the University of Duisburg-Essen’s Institute for Work, Skills and Training. Before that, Nienhüser used to be a full professor of business and economics, chairing the “Work, Personnel and Organisation” working group at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His academic work revolves around “power in organisations, worker participation (co-determination), the causes and consequences of different types of HRM strategies, the relationship between HRM and industrial relations, and in different forms of atypical employment”, as stated on his website.
