Abstract

Solopreneurship represents a significant option in the changing working life. Individual strengths are a hitherto under-researched aspect of supporting solopreneurship. This study adopted a phenomenographic approach to investigate the following research question: “How are the strengths of expert solopreneurs connected to becoming and acting as a solopreneur according to the solopreneurs’ perceptions?” The findings indicated that individual strengths, especially values and interests, play a significant role in pursuing solopreneurship. The findings underscore that a wide array of strengths constitutes an integral facet of a solopreneur’s daily operations. Furthermore, strengths play a pivotal role in the solopreneur’s experience of success, bolstering resilience in the face of challenges. However, it is noteworthy that strengths can, in certain circumstances, pose challenges to solopreneurs. This highlights the importance of self-knowledge and effective self-leadership for solopreneurs.
