Abstract

Last-mile delivery with crowdshipping is a logistics solution that, besides the store’s professional fleet, considers the possibility of having ordinary people with no professional relation with the store (a.k.a. occasional couriers) delivering some packages. The associated problem combines two prominent problems in the literature: routing and assignment. Packages are assigned to occasional couriers, and routes are generated for the store’s professional fleet and occasional couriers. In this chapter, we describe the first mathematical model proposed to solve this problem and provide a comprehensive review of metaheuristics used in the literature to address challenges related to last-mile delivery with crowdshipping.
