Abstract

The chapter examines the historical and cultural factors that influenced the Ottoman Empire’s development, focusing on its political organization, economic activities, and interactions with European powers. It highlights the empire’s rise and fall, emphasizing the role of cultural values and external influences. The chapter discusses the Ottoman Empire’s origins, its expansion, and its eventual decline due to internal conflicts and European colonial pressures. The empire’s inability to adapt to the changing economic and political landscape of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries led to its eventual dissolution and the rise of the modern Turkish Republic. The chapter concludes by reflecting on the Ottoman Empire’s legacy and the impact of European colonialism on its development.
