Abstract

Humanity’s environmental footprint has influenced how the world’s population lives today. Many successful entrepreneurs donate large sums of capital to help counter hunger for the world’s population. One notable example is Bill Gates, one of the world’s most successful portfolio entrepreneurs. In 1975, Gates founded the Microsoft Corporation with Paul Allen. His success at Microsoft eventually led him to create the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 1994 with the aim of investing money primarily in healthcare and education projects in developing countries. In 2006, Gates left his job at Microsoft to run the foundation full-time. It is estimated that this foundation has saved almost seven million lives from various diseases, making it the world’s largest charitable organisation (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, n.d.-d; Britannica, 2023).
