Abstract

Zusammenfassung Dieses Kapitel beschreibt, wie Luxus im Laufe seiner Geschichte seinen eigenen Regeln gefolgt ist. Luxus spielt eine besondere Rolle in Kultur und Gesellschaft. Luxus hat heute viele Gesichter: von Königserben und statusgetriebenen Logo-Sammlern bis hin zu prächtigem Bling-Bling und sogar minimalistischem und zeitlosem Understatement. Luxus ist ein dynamisches Konzept, aber man kann es verwalten, auch in einer Welt kontinuierlicher Innovation und Fortschritt. In letzter Zeit haben wir begonnen, Hardware abzuwerten und Software auf die gleiche Weise zu verehren, wie wir das Materielle abwerten und Erlebnisse verehren. Dies beinhaltet nicht nur im Laden, sondern auch Online-Erlebnisse: eigentlich überall Erlebnisse.
