Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Theorie des liberalen Intergouvernementalismus wurde erfunden, um dem Phänomen der zunehmenden Interdependenzen seit den 1970er-Jahren zu begegnen. Es wird argumentiert, dass internationale Organisationen (wie die EU) von nationalen Regierungen geschaffen werden, um wirtschaftliche Interdependenz zu steuern. In diesem Kapitel wird gezeigt, dass das Konzept der wirtschaftlichen Interdependenz innerhalb des Europäischen Gemeinsamen Marktes und insbesondere innerhalb der Eurozone nicht mehr gilt. Es muss durch das Konzept der wirtschaftlichen Externalitäten ersetzt werden, diese bedürfen einer besonderen Form der Governace.
