Abstract

In this chapter, the description of the method called Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (ABC) is presented, including a brief history, the algorithm, and its application to the inverse radiative transfer problem, for the determination of the single scattering albedo, optical thickness, and external isotropic radiation intensities incident on the boundary surfaces of one-dimensional homogeneous participating media. The results obtained with a variant of ABC, called Modified Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (MABC), are also presented. These results are then compared with those obtained with the Simulated Annealing Method (SA).
