Abstract

Zusammenfassung Um die bedeutenden Beiträge von Kurt Gödel zur mathematischen Logik und Mengenlehre zu verstehen und zu würdigen, sollten die Leser zumindest eine bescheidene Vertrautheit mit der Geschichte und Entwicklung dieser Gebiete vor und bis zu seiner Zeit in den 1920er- und 1930er-Jahren haben, als er seine wichtigsten Arbeiten durchführte. Diejenigen Leser, die bereits über diese Themen informiert sind oder es eilig haben, zu Gödels eigener Arbeit zu gelangen, können dieses Kapitel überspringen, ohne den Zusammenhang unserer Geschichte zu verlieren.
