Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im September 1912 begann der junge Kurt Gödel sein erstes Schuljahr – der Beginn eines Bildungsprozesses, der ihn 20 Jahre später zur höchsten Stufe, der Habilitation, führen sollte. Er wurde an einer halbprivaten Grundschule eingeschult, der „Evangelischen Privaten Volks- und- Bürgerschule“, die sich in der Elisabethgasse (Opletalova) 6 befand, etwa 600 m nordöstlich der Familienwohnung (vgl. Abb. 1.3 ). Das Schulgebäude ist noch intakt und fast unverändert (vergleiche das moderne Foto in Abb. 3.1). Heute beherbergt es die „Evangelische Akademie und Höhere Berufsfachschule für Sozialrecht“, die von der tschechischen evangelischen (lutherischen) Kirche betrieben wird. Als der kleine Kurt Gödel 1912 die Schule betrat, wurde sie vom „Mährischen Ausgleich“ regiert, einer Reihe von Gesetzen, die 1905 von der Habsburger Monarchie verabschiedet wurden, um die Spannungen zwischen den deutschen und tschechischen Volksgruppen in Mähren zu mildern. Die vier Gesetze im Ausgleich regelten das Verhältnis von deutschen und tschechischen Mitgliedern im Provinzparlament; den Wahlprozess; die Amtssprachen der Provinz; und das Schulsystem in Mähren (Trennung in deutschsprachige und tschechischsprachige Schulen).
