Abstract

After decades of pursuing economic and social developmentDevelopment strategies, the landmass referred to as Latin AmericaLatin America, including the island nations of the CaribbeanCaribbean, remains a relatively poor and underdeveloped area in the world. It is not the poorest region, but despite ameliorations in many well-being indicators over the past decades, Latin America is surely the most unequal, where the gap between rich and destitute is most glaring.
