Abstract

The discourse in this chapter will explore how the intricacies of global disruption versus the emergent need for innovation have affected service operations, manufacturing operations, and supply chain management, focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa and other developing economies. Operations management architecture entails converting resources (inputs) into outputs efficiently. Thus, this chapter’s discourse will examine how global disruption has affected the emergent need for innovation in service, manufacturing, and supply chain management. What have been the operational architectures in manufacturing, service, and supply chain prior- and post-COVID periods vis-à-vis the implications of leadership from the operations dimension? What can operational leadership do, or what leadership capabilities can leadership leverage in eliciting motivation towards driving optimal organisational effectiveness and cohesion because of the disruption occasioned by global disruption vis-à-vis efficient deployment of scarce resources amidst the emergent need for innovation?
