Abstract

Sentiment analysis through the analysis of user information is a complex task. Approaching such a task involves several stages, from constructing a corpus to designing a predictive model. This section presents approaches used for the first step of sentiment analysis in the context of textual information and the dataset creation process. First, we define the experimental setup design steps and some of the factors that impact this process in this task. Afterward, we describe and compare the process of designing a data mining system with three different methodologies. Finally, we describe some of the challenges that accompany this process together with some afterthoughts. The goal of this section is to introduce the reader to the challenges and considerations that a researcher has to address for the creation or compilation of a text-based dataset for sentiment analysis.
