Abstract

Joffe describes his early ideological journey from his liberalism, through conservatism, and ultimately to libertarianism as a student at New York University in the early 1980s. Later in life, he grappled with the tradeoffs between radicalism and incrementalism and the challenges of working on single issues with other ideological groups. He also participated in “new country” projects such as Seasteading, which could achieve liberty without having to convince a critical mass of Americans to buy in.
