Abstract

This chapter investigates entrepreneurial purposes. As a practice, entrepreneurship scholars interested in this topic usually consider three common purposes (the perceiving of entrepreneurial opportunities, the creation of new businesses, and the bringing of innovation to the market) and question about them in order investigate their main characteristics and point out the most relevant one. Here, the common purposes will be briefly summarized in order to determine if there may be a kind of priority among them to explore the probable reasons why entrepreneurs address their interest and efforts toward one purpose rather than another, as well as to hypothesize the implications due to the emerging reasons.
