Abstract

Methods of mathematical physics is a vast area of modern applied mathematics which provides mathematical tools to researchers in physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, finances, and of course in mathematics. Both authors taught mathematical physics courses in different universities and research centers engaging a number of well-known existing textbooks and complementing them with selected topics suitable for undergraduate or graduate level courses. From the experience gained the idea of writing this book gradually matured as an attempt to combine standard material with more recent and less known developments which represent powerful and far-reaching techniques and at the same time are simple enough to be taught at the undergraduate level. Thus, the first goal of this book consists in narrowing the existing gap between what is presently taught and what is being developed and used by active researchers.
