Abstract

The traditional model of care is undergoing radical transformations to face emerging challenges that impact businesses and society. Technological innovation and collaboration are at the center of interest for ensuring resilience, guaranteeing real-time decision-making and business continuity. The crucial aspect of this transformation is the pursuit of Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) [Porter, M. E. Value-based health care: From idea to reality. In International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) annual conference (2013).] and a patient-centricity approach based on value/outcome rather than volume/performance. The strategic Value Agenda aims at moving from a fragmented system to an integrated one that focuses on creating value for patients. This chapter illustrates a theoretical framework for implementing VBHC with the aim to maximize value for patients.
