Abstract

At this moment, several ships are transiting through the Canal of Panama. Hundreds of people are making sure that these ships transit from one ocean to another in a safe, efficient, and reliable way. Traffic control personnel, pilots, tugboat captains, engine officers, locomotive operators, sailors, boat operators, cable passers, administrative personnel, security teams, and so many others are who make such a complex maneuver so seem simple. With all due respect to Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach, the orchestration of the Canal is far more complicated and precise than anything the great composers could have imagined.
