Abstract

This chapter highlights the process of introducing servant leadership to a western undergraduate Leadership Studies course at an international branch campus in Mainland China despite significant cultural differences between Western and Chinese ideologies of leadership and classroom engagement. In addition to outlining the evolution and delivery of small- and large-group projects and subsequent reflection exercises, the chapter will detail the unique challenges associated with implementing project-based servant leadership opportunities in a foreign culture. The authors detail the successful coordination with students and external stakeholders during each stage of the projects, as well as make recommendations for future servant leadership ventures in the ever-changing global landscape of higher education.
