Abstract

Waste is a serious problem for our societies and environment. Our industries are strongly depending on the consumption of new materials and resources, which threat the environment (Giannakitsidou et al. 2020). The environment can get huge benefit by avoiding and minimizing waste by diverting waste towards treatments that allow reusing, recycling, and recovering energy. Circular economy (CE) implementation would certainly help us to reduce the usage of electricity and natural resources and waste minimization. Then, this study aims to present different aspects and the main concepts of the CE based on scientific reviews of articles. We also briefly reviewed the most recent articles focused on CE and sustainability evaluation and indicators framework, which are very important to know for facilitating the CE implementation and achieving sustainability in our industries.
