Abstract

Big Data and the various fields of Artificial Intelligence, particularly Machine Learning, are drastically reshaping the educational landscape and learning processes. A dive into the depth of their history, definition, modern state, and practical or potential applications in general and under the context of Education, is the focus of this chapter. The role of these technologies, the benefits of incorporating them in Education, and the problems they address are analysed in detail. Example educational business use case scenarios are presented to enhance and enable tutoring, for students of varying backgrounds and capabilities. Furthermore, challenges in the process of their adoption in Education, as well as necessary preparations and adjustments are discussed. c these challenges and potential issues in not only a technological, but also a sociological context, aims to ensure the biggest benefit from adopting these technologies for students and teachers alike. In conclusion, the fast-paced growth of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence is analysed in modern markets and industries, with a glimpse in potential future developments.
