Abstract

This chapter presents the core components for the understanding of university governance models’ emerging challenges. The discussion focuses on topics such as students’ admissions, retention, and experiences, online learning, board composition, values, heritage and the social load of universities, and the trends for higher education in a Post-COVID world. These topics are also presented within a context of bigger societal issues such as inequality, post-pandemic education, racism, and social unrest. The discussion is also extended to their repercussions over the university governance models, their resilience, flexibility, progress, or dismissal.
