Abstract

In this chapter the different methods for the analysis of a cluster RCT are discussed. The complexity of a cluster RCT is that there is dependency of data within the cluster which should be taken into account. This can be done by using a mixed model analysis. When there is more than one follow-up measurement in a cluster RCT, this leads to a so-called three-level structure in the data. The follow-up measurements are dependent within the subject, and the subjects are dependent within the cluster. This three-level structure slightly complicates the analyses.
