Disruptors

Abstract

Innovators and entrepreneurs are generally represented in cinema as positive and progressive forces. Inventors and creators are portrayed as heroes because they develop new products or production processes, give consumers what they like, and anticipate what consumers want. Their character arcs are stories of self-improvement and personal achievement against self-doubt or powerful players who seek to suppress these geniuses and steal their ideas. Innovators on the silver screen often suffer unfair indictments brought up by the establishment and face insolvable dilemmas between their family and their grand vision. Creators and entrepreneurs usually must pay the price for achieving their goals, be it love, social ostracism, or their sanity.
