Abstract

The wealth management industry is facing extraordinary challenges: Increasing restrictive regulations, a historically low interest rate environment, rapidly changing client behaviour as well as a fast-growing competitive pressure through new entrants need to be addressed. Therefore, wealth managers must apply a client-centric view, adopt an experimentation mind-set and become true innovators. This requires management leadership and an environment that recognises the fundamental need for transformation in order to tackle current market challenges. This article lays out the path Vontobel took to establish first its ‘Digital Hub’ to speed up digital development, followed by Vontobel Volt®, a digital investment app and platform, that enables Vontobel not only to provide direct wealth services to its clients but also to establish new business models in the B2B area.
