BASF: Precision Farming with Lark Bread Initiative

Abstract

This article discusses the utilization of precision farming provided by BASF in direct cooperation with the Lark Bread Initiative. By leaving intentional spaces in the fields, farmers can participate in the program securing local processing and sale of their product, e.g., wheat, highlighting biodiversity, and earning a fair share of every loaf sold. With the addition of BASF’s precision farming, formerly an exclusive high-tech feature, in combination with instructed implementation, further supervision, and the appropriate time frame to do so, the project enables farmers to meet decisions based on precise data. This can be seen as an opportunity for a sustainable modernization of a conservative industry.
