Abstract

Different regions in India have resorted to different developmental policies to improve their socio-economic standards. While the regional analysis of sector specific policies highlights the nuances of regional variations in a particular sector, in reality, these sectors are highly inter-connected, affecting each other’s performance when implemented simultaneously. In this context, this chapter undertakes an integrated policy exercise to highlight the short, medium and long run priorities of different regions. However, shaping these regional insights into deliverable policy actions ultimately lies in the hands of the policymakers who need to prioritise a decentralised approach to cater to the needs of regional evidence-based policymaking, thereby strengthening and leveraging India’s unique diversity as she progresses towards achieving more and more ambitious targets.
