Abstract

The grand old benhmark. CushingCushing hub at the crossroads. President ReganPresident Regan decontrols the markets. Trading in WTIWest Texas Intermediate (WTI) picks up. The NYMEXNew York Mercantile exchange (NYMEX) exchangeexchanges. Challenges, falling production and imports, then a glut. WTIWest Texas Intermediate (WTI) decouples from the world oil marketsoil markets. Lifting of the export ban. Peak oilPeak oil (again, again) and shaleshale. Game changer. Demand shock and negative prices. Accident or a foul play?
