Abstract

The IMK-TRO at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) presents in the HLRS annual report for 2018 selected projects in which the CRAY XE40 “Hazel Hen” was used. Different topics have been covered in 2018. In this report however, we focus on our very high resolution regional climate simulations within CORDEX FPS Convection and the simulation of present and future heat stress, especially in cities. The simulations are performed with the regional climate model COSMO-CLM (CCLM) and cover spatial resolutions from 50 to 2.8 km. The required Wall-Clock-Time (WCT) ranges from about 2000 to more than 30000 node-hours per simulated year.
