Abstract

This chapter is a brief conclusion to the book and summarizes it as the use of systemic cycle theory in a multi-theoretical framework encompassing power resource theory, path dependence, and formal political channels. The conceptual gap this study attempted to resolve is the issue faced by the dominant comparative capitalism schemes, which focus on the microeconomic, ideal-typical, and national and can therefore not explain the relevant change drivers as endogenous. The central methodological maneuver of this thesis was to elevate the unit of analysis to the transnational level in order to capture the many drivers of change that occur beyond the limits of a nation-state.
