Abstract

Guatemala is a country rich in culture and customs, with a wonderful cultural diversity. Cultural diversity refers to variety, an abundance of different things, as well as the interaction between different cultures. Guatemala’s cultural diversity is an important asset, and its people have the right to have their culture respected. One of the manifestations of cultural diversity is the diversity of language, religious beliefs, art, music, diet, and so on. Culture is everything that comprises the set of distinctive, spiritual, material, intellectual and affective features that characterize a social group. Within these cultural domains, socioeconomic elements take root and generate the inequality that exists among the diverse Guatemalan population.
