Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im Juni 2012 traten wir in den letzten Wendepunkt der Krise ein, auch wenn wir es damals noch nicht realisieren konnten. Auf dem Gipfeltreffen der Eurozone in Brüssel am 28. und 29. Juni 2012 beschlossen die Staats- und Regierungschefs der Eurozone den Aufbau einer Bankenunion, die die giftige Verbindung zwischen Banken und Staatsschulden abbauen sollte. Als die schweren Turbulenzen an den Märkten anhielten, begannen die Mitgliedstaaten – und die Marktkräfte – die EZB um Hilfe zu bitten. Während der Olympischen Spiele in London im Juli 2012 hielt Mario Draghi eine Rede, in der er die Bereitschaft der EZB zusicherte, „alles zu tun, was nötig ist“, damit der Euro überleben kann. „Glauben Sie mir, es wird ausreichen“, erklärte er – und die Märkte nahmen ihn beim Wort.
