Abstract

This chapter aims to outline perspectives of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) integration in the energy sector, with a focus on the oil and gas industry. The EAEU energy markets integration project faces numerous challenges: differences in terms of resource endowment, unequal economic weight of partners, non-market pricing conditions, and political constraints which complicate harmonization of energy policies across the EAEU members. This chapter subsequently covers the following aspects: (i) current state of integration initiatives in the oil and gas industry; (ii) analysis of economic interests toward energy markets integration; and (iii) political and economic constraints to the integration process.
