Workplace Bullying Laws in Europe and the United Kingdom

Abstract

Existing legal structures at the European Union level and legal enactments on workplace bullying in the European countries of the Netherlands, Sweden, France, and Germany as well as the United Kingdom are covered in this chapter. The European countries and the United Kingdom are ahead in terms of legal statutes pertaining to workplace bullying and harassment compared to other parts of the world. Specific laws such as the Dutch Working Conditions Act, the Victimization at Work Act, the Social Modernization Law, and the Protection from Harassment, Act which ensure non violation of the basic human rights of the employees while at work, are discussed.
