Social Responsibility at Polish Universities: Based on the Example of WSB University in Wroclaw

Abstract

The research problem analyzed in this article concerns the role of the social responsibility strategy in the functioning of the university (University Social Responsibility [USR]), which is the private WSB University in Wroclaw (WSB). The aim of the article is to present how the SR concept is perceived by WSB employees in four basic areas of the university’s activity: external relations, internal relations, conducting research and education. The WSB research was carried out following the questionnaire provided by the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. The scientific nature of the article results from the original results of empirical research presented in it. On the basis of the obtained results, it can be stated that universities should implement social responsibility principles in their structures. It seems that universities that have developed and implemented a social responsibility strategy, or are planning to do so, will create better grounds for attracting students from other, also non-European, countries. They will also become a better place to work for employees. In turn, a higher level of satisfaction and motivation positively affect the quality of work and the educational offer that is being created.
