Getting organized for takeoff

Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is fourfold. First, it acts as a practical summary of the ground covered in the first four chapters, and provides a checklist to a number of preparatory activities dealt with in those chapters. Secondly, it helps concentrate your mind on what is to come, by addressing the issue of planning and timetabling. Thirdly, it discusses a number of physical resources which you will need to organize for yourself before you begin work. Finally, it focuses your attention on the direction you’ll be taking, that is, the thesis you’re about to address.
