Vaporization and Growth of Large and Moderately Large Particles at Considerable Differences of Gaseous Component Concentrations

Abstract

The paper is devoted to theoretical description of the convective (Stefan)1 vaporization and growth of large and moderately large particles spherical in shape at large relative temperature differences in a particle-gaseous medium system and considerable concentration differences of gaseous components. Vaporization and growth processes in binary gaseous mixtures occurring both without2 and with internal heat release3–7 and radiant heat exchange are discussed. Besides the molecular diffusion, thermal diffusion and Dufour effect, i.e. thermal energy release due to gaseous component concentration gradients, are taken into account. Solution of the non-linear transport equation system makes allowance for the arbitrary dependence of the molecular transport factors and thermal diffusion on gaseous medium temperature and gaseous component concentrations.
