Abstract

There was a certain amount of trepidation on my part when I wrote this chapter, most notably, that I was looking into the future of financial modeling. There are several aspects of modeling for which it's possible to make pretty accurate predictions about the future, but it's always wise to use caution because financial modeling is intrinsically linked to the performance of business and finance. Drastic changes in either—as was the case with the financial crisis of 2007–2008 or the downfall of Enron in 2001—will affect its future. Nevertheless, it's still a good idea to take a look at what we can expect in financial modeling in the future.
