Abstract

Darko Hrelic is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Gartner, Inc., the premier IT research and advisory services company. He leads the Strategic Technology Group, ensuring that Gartner fully leverages the capabilities of technology to deliver exceptional value to clients, and further develops its technical infrastructure to support long-term corporate growth objectives. Darko joined Gartner in January 2007 from ADP, where he led all aspects of ADP’s client facing technical strategy, architecture and technology as VP and CTO of Employer Services. He played an instrumental role in driving the SOA (service- oriented architecture) vision and strategy, making legacy systems on-demand SOA capable, defining a successful implementation of an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). Prior to joining ADP, Darko spent over 21 years at IBM, most of which were at the TJ Watson Research Center, working in areas such as videotext, high speed communications, electronic commerce, among others. He also helped form the IBM Internet Division in the mid-1990s, where he spearheaded the technical strategy for ecommerce, also known as “eBusiness.” In 2000, Darko was also a key technical driver in helping found e2open.com, a high-tech industry electronic marketplace consortium startup. Darko holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ.
